I caused amusement in the office by referring to the partner of a colleague as his 'woman.' I suppose referring to a man's partner or girlfriend as their 'woman' is a rather blokey, working class way of speaking and perhaps sounds a bit sexist.

Of course, unmarried live-in relationships are a modern development and lack any formal etiquette.

My thought's.

People put their own stupid or overly academic thought's on whatever they read or hear.

The best thing is to be yourself, and not focus or care what they have to say. Someone agree'd with you, and understands why you said it, and the commentary was meant for them, not those who have to take offense to it.

Most of those people are driven by the collective anyway, and have no individuality. One word setting off a chainreaction is a sign of a watchdog mentality that is also a modern development.

Now, if you stick your head in his den, a snapper will snap on you, but the thing about snapper's is, they like to bait you just so they can snap.

So be a wiser fish. ;)
